May 22, 2024 – Detroit –-The Impact Network, the 100% Black-founded and operated independent multi-platform cable network, the premier home for Black family and community entertainment, today announced the exclusive broadcast premiere of its first-ever music honors special, the Impact SOAR Awards, in partnership with SOAR Radio, airing on June 17th at 8 pm EST.
Premiering during Juneteenth Week, which is celebrated each year on June 19th to commemorate the date the last enslaved African Americans in Texas were informed of their freedom in 1865, over two years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation, and in recognition of Black Music Month, a dynamic celebration honoring the deep impact of Black music on global culture and society, the SOAR Awards spotlights the musical innovation and cultural shifts driven by Black artists while also acknowledging and appreciating the contributions of Black musicians across various genres, past and present.

The SOAR Awards is a musical tribute special that honors the most influential figures in contemporary gospel music, showcasing their treasured songs with tributes performed by fellow artists. This year’s ceremony is hosted by gospel recording artists Todd Dulaney and Jekalyn Carr and honors gospel’s greats, including: 11-time Grammy Awards nominee and 3-time BET Awards winner Marvin Sapp; 2-time Grammy Awards nominee Ricky Dillard; Multiple Stellar Award winner, 2-time Grammy nominee and the Godmother of Gospel Jazz, Kim Burrell; and Travis Greene, 7-time Stellar Awards winner. Performers and special guests include: Brian Courtney Wilson, Brian Courtney Wilson, Todd Galberth, Chrystal Rucker, Anita Wilson, Todd Dulaney, Jabari Johnson, Lena Byrd miles, Jekalyn Carr, Titus Showers, and presenters such as Tim Bowman, Jr. and many more. The SOAR Awards are executive produced by Royal W. Jackson, Executive Vice President, Impact Network.

In addition to the SOAR Awards, Impact Network is incorporating 30-second Black Music Month on-air vignettes that celebrate influential Black music figures and musical moments across various genres, amplifying their significant contributions to music and culture.
